Unveiling a Unusual Steam Demo: Guiding a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have discovered a variety of engaging indie games. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer lets you play a hero that is literally a dung striving to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a jump control. In 150 stages, encounter mini-bosses and unlock a market to buy customizations for your dung hero.

Plan your jumps carefully, as a error requires starting over. Jump off floating orbs to launch the poop upward, navigate fragile ledges, and touch switches to unlock new areas. Collect currency for buying challenging levels where gameplay intensifies.

Visually, the game features vibrant level designs and an amazing music score. The retro graphics featuring shifting basic polygons evokes memories of players of classic titles like Earthbound.

While it's tough to think of other games where you are a piece of feces, gaming frequently included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft throwables from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, this theme appears a lot in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already received impressive accolades, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is available now on Steam, with the full game set to debut on computers on November 19.
